WHO WE ARE
STEPi stands for Squaring the Education Pyramid Institute. Squaring the Education Pyramid Institute (STEPi) NPC is a non-profit dedicated to transforming education across Africa. We focus on nurturing literacy, cultivating a love for learning, and strengthening the bonds between parents, teachers, and communities.

EMPOWERMENT
AN EQUITABLE APPROACH
Our manifesto to "Square the Pyramid," inspired by founder Paul H. Sutherland, reflects the belief that life’s starting point is unequal. Children are born into different circumstances with varying access to resources. Traditionally, society invests heavily in those at the top, creating a pyramid where privilege and opportunity are unevenly distributed.
At STEPi, we advocate for a more equitable approach by building an inclusive education system grounded in the science of brain development, early childhood literacy, positive psychology, and social-emotional learning. By addressing disparities early, we can empower all children to reach their full potential, ensuring resources nurture every child, regardless of their starting point.

“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility.
It's easy to say 'It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem. Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”
- Fred Rogers
